Professional Development

The school strives to create a professional learning environment for staff as well as students. The school functions best through collaborative teams of staff tackling the major issues that arise. Over the last couple of years this has led to a new Learning and Teaching Strategy, Whole School Language Policy, Whole School Assessment Policy and a Child Protection Policy, and we continually look to improve the quality of education that we offer.

There is a formal performance management system in place whereby all teachers are observed at least once a year and professional dialogue can then take place. We aim to develop a growth mindset among all our staff.

The school encourages staff to keep a professional portfolio and to engage in student and other staff feedback.

In previous years the following professional development occurred either online, at Danube or within the local region with other international schools sharing opportunities, and in Europe at various workshops or conferences.

Naturally a great deal of focus is on the IB curriculum throughout the school but the school also looks to enhance staff capabilities across the practical (e.g. first aid, fire extinguisher use), pedagogical tools and creating the appropriate culture within and outside the classroom.
